R.O.L.A. (Regional One Lunger Association LLC) started out in 1999 as six guys racing for bragging rights on a local pond near New York Mills, Minnesota. Today we have over 200 individuals that race for cash, awards, and, of course, “bragging rights.” We started out with a group of racers that would race anywhere such as swamps, fields, and lakes; now we have organized, insured events with plowed tracks and plenty of people to make sure the races run smooth and safe. R.O.L.A. has drawn the interest and participation of racers from around the Midwest & Canada. Throughout the winter, one cylinder enthusiasts can find R.O.L.A. races in various cities and towns throughout central, eastern, and northern Minnesota. We offer eleven different classes for one cylinder racers. There are classes for everyone: stock, improved stock, modified and more.
In 2004, R.O.L.A. took over the “One Lunger 100" that had been held in Pine River in previous years. Because of lack of space and help to run the event, the previous promoter decided to let R.O.L.A. take the reins. R.O.L.A. now proudly hosts the One Lunger 100 on beautiful Lake Detroit, directly in front of the Holiday Inn, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, keeping alive the tradition in which we are rooted. On February 7, 2009, we will again host the 12th Annual One Lunger 100.
Our 2009 winter season kick-off is THE BEST DAMM RACE at the Willow River, Minnesota on January 17, 2009, this is a joint race with SLEDS; we will be at Waconia on January 31, 2009, with additional twin classes and ovals; The 12th Annual One Lunger 100 will be on February 7, 2009 in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota; and our final race will be a FUN Race in Grey Eagle, this will also be a joint race with SLEDS. |
